As of June 1, China has handled more than 40 billion parcels this year, about the total amount of parcels managed in 2017, the State Post Bureau of China said on Tuesday.

On daily basis, 266 million parcels were delivered and received by 500 million users.

China's parcel delivery business has boomed in the recent decade and set new records constantly.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry played an important role in maintaining people's daily life and providing essential logistics services.

According to the bureau, the quality of the delivery business has improved this year. Customers are more satisfied with the service and the punctuality rate has increased in many places.

The bureau estimated that a total of 95 billion parcels are expected to be processed this year.
